: I have a question about this. I, as many of you, am classified as a 4w5.
: 4s are supposed to be very emotional. 5s are supposed to be not emotional at all.
: So, does the emotionalness of the 4 cancel out the unemotional tendencies of the 5? Do they set up some sort of yin/yang balance? Or are they consistently in conflict?
I belive that they are in constant conflict. 5's are not so much unemotional as they are out of touch with their emotions. If you've ever seen a group of type 5 scientists arguing their theories (i.e. opinions), you'd know that they can be very emotional! In situations like these, they are not rationally demonstating facts, but fearfully protecting their ideas, which they overly identify with thier selves.
4's, on the other hand, overly identify their selves with their emotions. My belief is that just as 5's sometimes get "stuck in their heads", we 4's tend to get "stuck in our hearts". Neither identification is the true self, and we should try to avoid either of them to find out who we really are.
