: I would feel that 4w3 are more inner directed, while 4w54 are more outer directed...I know it contrasts the 4w5 being the Intro 4 and 4w3 being the Extro 4...but the point being that a 4w3 would rather relate his/her feelings and his/her perceptions to an audience, whereas the 4w5 would relate what s/he feels and sees in the world. I guess that didn't come across as very clear, but let's not forget that the 5 OBSERVES, and the 3 ADAPTS. So in a way we could call the 4w3 "Adaptable Self" and the 4w5 "Observant Self". I would like to think of it as a destiny sort of thing for a 4... the 5 wings creating their innovation, and the 3 wings presenting the ideals to others.

: Let's say a 4w3 and 4w5 are at a party...the 4w5 would be actively observing from the sidelines...the party mood, general reactions, what goes on...but cannot easily join the party (say that he's a middle-class person in an upper-class person's party in a mansion) The 4w3, being adaptable, can perceive and pick up on the environment, and work off of it to present a favorable image so he can mingle with others and fit in near perfectly. The 4w5 being the creator of some elaborate tracking device, and the 4w3 weaseling and talking his way deep into the opposing team's territory, planting the homing device...and of course with the mingling characteristics of 3 and 4, grab some hours-d'ouvres on the way out. I believe in Russos's book he mentioned something about the Disney Aladdin parrot-character Iago being a 4w3 =)

:
: : First, though -- it's sad (but true) that the four/three comes across "ditzy", but I don't think they are necessarily less "intellectual". I think they are more willing to let their intense emotions show (because of the three "self-display"), and perhaps have less of a fragile identity (due to the three "adaptability"). Fours in general are, as Riso says in his newest book, "the deep sea divers of the psyche"...and that is true of both subtypes. I've learned many things from my friend (primarily not to worry AT ALL about what others think)in behavioral ways, but the main thing that interests me is the creative differences.

: : Four/threes, if creative, seem to produce a flowing, emotional, understandable and affecting creation...it still has all of the hallmarks of a four, in that it resounds with a deep understanding of emotion and humanity, but it is buttery, palatable, still unpredictable, but not necessarily in NEED of innovation. Not that four/three's are not innovative, but when they are not, they still affect me with emotion.

: : Four/fives, on the other hand, in my opinion are the geniuses of creation...intellectual, innovative, deeply emotional, challenging, sometimes unappealing (to the masses, anyway), and the epitome of "innovative". I'm a four/three, but my favorite creators are four/fives...and interestingly, though I think I'm incapable of reaching the level of genius of those I admire, my association with a four/five has led me to a height I never would have reached otherwise.

: : I'd like to hear some other thoughts on this. :)
