Actually, for a long time I thought that I was a 5, because most descriptions of 4's sounded a bit too emotional and tragic for me. I started really reading my "Personality Types" book and under the "Direction of Disintegration: The Four goes to Two" section, it reads..."...they are more focused on their imaginations than on real people and events...feel stress when others try to engage with them more directly..."etc. It also says under the 4W5 section..."...persons of this subtype are given not merely to self-absorption but to philosophical and religious speculation. Their emotional world is the dominant reality, but with a strong intellectual cast." That fits me also, the good and the bad. I also am into the MBTI and I have taken a bunch of IQ tests on the net (yes, I know it's geeky). Do I sound more like a 5W4? I am 27, and I completely agree with your suggestion that age can be an influence.
