I do agree with all of the above. I don't see much difference between five M or F, which echoes my belief that most of the "courting" stuff is socially induced, but true feelings and desires are determined by our deeper self (the type). Yes fives fear getting confused about someone else's feelings or expectations, it hurts inside to make such a mistake. Yet they just as much dislike pressure. A good way to start bonding is through sharing common centers of interest, long talks on a good topic, kindness and gentleness, openness and honesty. I tend to like "shy" people who hide treasures inside, I like people with depth and concern, openness and flexibility of mind.
This brings me to the topic on ones! I like their honesty and stability yet soon feels a great lack of width and flexibility in their patterns of thoughts, it's too "squeezing" and "righteous" for me.

: Sedna--being a 5w4 myself, I can tell you what I would appreciate...of course, keep in mind that this is from a female perspective. I find the easiest way for me to deal with people in general is to wait for them to approach me. I figure if someone has something to say to me, they'll seek me out. I'd prefer not to have to play guessing games about other people's feelings. I'm generally reluctant to put my own feelings on the line, unless I've already undeniably perceived "signs," especially words (considering they allow for the least misinterpretation). If I was this man, I think I'd be waiting for you to say the word. I prefer to discuss feelings in an objective way, and if he's anything like me as well as truly interested, he'll appreciate that initial approach from you.
