Speaking as a 5 myself, I share the view that 5's can have intense emotions. I also believe that we are afraid they will interfere with the ability to think clearly. This is perhaps the main reason why we disengage from our emotions so much. I value the ability to observe and assess situations objectively and to formulate strategies for handling them. If I feel my emotions start to rise, I instinctively react to try to stop them taking over. It's hard to describe, but it's as if I separate my thinking mind from my emotional reactions, which then seem to disappear into the background. Sometimes this takes enormous effort.

I understand why 5's appear cold, but I agree that this is misleading. I believe that, generally speaking, 5's are incrdibly passionate, and that the apparent coldness is an extreme reaction to handle extreme emotions.
