Yeap, I also tend to over rely on memory! And I need to "see" things, thus it's the CDs I most often listen to which are put on top of the pile, however I tend to sort them in several small piles in order to rech them more easily....

: : It sort of comes and goes, but I have been known to be rather obsessed with putting things in alphabetical order. My fiction books are arranged alphabetically by author and my non-fiction books are roughly categorized by Dewy Decimal system and alphabetized within those categories. My CDs are alphabetized by artist, and if I should have several by the same singer/band, they are alphabetized, too. Off and on I have alphabetized my colored pencil sets (by color, of course...black, blue, green, orange, red, etc.) I generally save all my receipts and then alphabetize those by store, and then by date of purchase, when I get around to it. I'm a J, though, so maybe it's not that strange?

: Sounds Jish to me because it's so directly practical. My CDs are not only not alphabetized, the wrong CDs are in the wrong cases. Fortunately, I have a good memory.
