Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive P.S.: ....Posted by Freddie on January 18, 2001 at 19:04:55: In Reply to: I've probably known three people who seemed to be indistinguishable 4/5's. I kinda supposed they were 4's (just a hunch). posted by Freddie on January 18, 2001 at 18:49:01:
People with nearly-centrated interpoint character styles probably overuse their wing because these people consciously or unconsciously consider their wing, in its power, to be a capable stress-relief device, or a defense against a defense. Of course, the stress of one defense equates to the stress of another, so their indulgence in this illusion only aggravates their confusion. If you choose to see this as a battle between two unconcsious instinctive drives, you may observe that the stronger drive always wins the war, though the weaker drive may occasionally win a battle, and thus temporarily appear victorious. For instance, think of a 6 overusing a 7 wing to evade anxiety, and then lapsing back, more anxious than before.
