I'm an introverted 5w4, and I'm not particularly fond of cocktail parties where I know only the host or hostess, and everyone else is a stranger. On the other hand, I can be quite an extroverted exhibitionist when I'm on the dance floor.

Regarding the "cynicism" you mention, perhaps you were looking for another word and you are not a cynic at all. Cynicism is hardly a sign of strength, and may be a Six counterphobic attribute.

Definition: Cynic -- a person who has little faith in human sincerity and goodness. (Readers Digest Oxford dictionary)

From my experience, it's people who have been repeatedly injured/traumatized by the outside world who seem to shield themselves behind an adamantine armor of cynicism. Perhaps they feel that if they look at the world with a jaundiced eye and expect the worst in others, then forewarned is indeed forearmed.

It requires no courage whatsoever to live life hiding behind a shield. But it takes an admirable amount of courage to survive hurt and yet choose to remain vulnerable and trustful -- exposing one's natural tenderness, staying emotionally connected to others, and allowing one's natural compassion to flow.
