My wizard knows the answer to something before I do, and I know what's on the paper, even though I don't know how I know. That last part is why I don't want to open the paper. It's like the paper has writ upon it the secret runes that can teleport me to the answer, but that's cheating.
I call the wiz NEM, because if you're going to name something like that, it might's well be a cheesy name: Noone/Everyone/Myself. NEM becomes my implied audience whenever, I can only imply one. Nobody in particular, but everyone in general, and both are an expression of myself. I think that's like the wizard. Nobody knows, but everybody could, so I should - no matter how. And sometimes I do; that's when the wizards scrawls, and the eyes glance and glare. Sometimes they just blink idly.

...about the walls: seems the walls are like lenses. Mirror, microscope, telescope, prism, or gem - or corrective or reading glasses.
It's like mental engineering. I wonder if this mindset and actual outwardly engineering developed symbiotically, or if one developed first and then other.
In one way, it seems like a finer art to do the mental stuff, so the worldly things would've been seen first. But that would seem to be a social symbiotic growth, anyway, though possibly lead by necessity and artifactry. Somebody would make something because they needed it, then somebody else would try to figure it out, and have to develop the finer art in the process, in order to get a proper idea of the artifact. So then that person would be capable of making things that somebody else could do the same with. The physical artificer thinks of how to shape the lenses so the light goes through the telescope in just the right way. The mental artificer thinks of how to let the will get hit by the thoughts in just the right way.
