Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive Math perhaps, if you like theory?Posted by Becky on August 03, 2000 at 02:24:10: In Reply to: Re: forget the integration theory for now posted by me on August 02, 2000 at 22:13:26:
: I also had another thought.. people tend to associate 9s with indecision.. not necessarily the inability to pick something, but with seeing the merits of all sides, etc.. I read that last part and heard myself talking (I, too, am entering college). People tell me I would do well as a science major, but I always say, "There's no abstraction; the application of theory doesn't interest me; etc. etc." And I am a 5 (Re: Is that a 5 trait?). :) For a long time (well, 6 months) I was prepared to major in math, but lately I am considering a specific interest of mine: Mesoamerican archaeology. Of course this will all change--I'll probably major in photography or something equally unrelated to my current interests. : Also, I feel somewhat frightened by the idea of choosing just one major/career path and closing out all other possibilites... I have too many intellectual interests! I love philosophy, I also have very strong writing skills... Id also love to do something in psychology, different parts of history, literature, and the good old physics (my true love) comes into play.. at this point in my life, Im planning on getting my degree in physics, but not to do research in an isolated lab, rather, I want to teach with it, likely high school, Hmm, I wanted to teach math with a math major. (That way, I'd still be able to stay inside the realm of theory.) Later I wondered if I was really cut out to be a teacher; I'm not much of a leader, or very good at expressing myself verbally. I should integrate. :)
