Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive Earlier thread about Void (Dave's)plus a question.Posted by B.O.T.E. on August 08, 2000 at 22:56:19: In Reply to: Dave? Share some thoughts on this, if so inclined. (n/t) posted by Interesting topic: B.O.T.E. on August 07, 2000 at 22:18:32:
he bottom of the enneagram is a void, between points 4 & 5, which is opposite point 9 at the top. All types are derivatives of 9, the The void is the point of absence of the awareness of our essence, and the loss of our true nature. In the enneagram of process we Many 4's & 5's confuse apathy with serenity, personal ego I mention Dave because he seems knowledgeable about Ichazo/Arica and other aspects of Enneagon/Enneagram subtleties. My curiosity about the void and the Robin's post is: if instead of "jumping" to 4 or 5, one experiences or becomes aware that by not "jumping," a 4 or 5 can realize that the void exists and also that it is essence or being. Is that a necessary and sufficient " A-HA" or is some more active (gut) response required. Perhaps the awareness is a first step. Having made it, the fixation loses its grip and active will is more accessible. If I understood Robin's post it sounds like the void "contains" essence: Q.E.D. or is it the view obtained briefly when one jumps up and looks over a fence for an instant. Correct me Robin if I am misunderstanding. I am not quibbling, just curious. The topic seems germane to much board activity (understanding self, understanding the universe as we know it.) Insight or action?
