Hi Cory and Zen Cowgirl, I just love those moments when you read someone elses words and realize that someone gets it. Yahoo!! When I was young (I'm 39 now) I acted like a 5 and was rewarded for being a 5. But as I grew up and got away from the strong influence of my mother, I really craved intimate connection and was overwhelmed by all the emotions that whelmed up inside me. It was about that time that I discovered the enneagram and identified with such 4ish traits as - melancholy moods, searching for my one true self, my ability to be there for my friends in time of crisis. I can, however, be very reserved and during times of my own crises I retreat within and guard my privacy with a vengeance. If you asked my friends what type I was I'm sure that they would all say 5. But to be honest with you I suspect that I'd rather imagine myself a 4 because I find that more appealing (not sure what word adequately descirbes what I'm thinking). Though being 5ish comes nature to me it was also something that I was a little forced into doing growing up and I don't know if I do it because it is who I am or if it is what I know. At any rate, I appreciate the opportunity to discuss the possibilities on this board.
