Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive So can a male 5w4 jump in?Posted by WingPrayer on August 14, 2000 at 16:13:33: In Reply to: tomboys?? posted by jen on August 13, 2000 at 19:42:25: Not to counter the point made by all on being a female 5, but you can jump out of the male/female difference and find societies non-approval in other modes. First, society is geared toward extroversion. Largely the same way that "laws" govern the failure of the Pessimists Club (if anyone will ever try to form it) and the success of the Optimists Club, so introverts are "pushed" out of the mainstream by much of its operations and happenings. The person who speaks up is seen as being the most [insert positive descriptor] and the peson who doesn't is seen as [insert negative]. "Quite" confidence and competence is not recognizable to those who jump and yell to show how confident and competent they are. Second, our society is one that values practical ability to get things done. It does not matter that MINDS often invision it, it is often the person how can jump and yell (and sell) who is given credit. Our society has adopted the old saying "you can build a better mousetrap..." as and ETHICAL and VALUATIVE statement rather than one of observable fact. Now, as to some of the statments such as "men don't like analytic women" you have to realize that overall PEOPLE aren't particularly drawn to analytic people. I like to watch and talk football in a very analtic way, but most men just want to yell and scream. The male/female roles are difficult on males 5's when it comes to things that expect extroversion - such as asking the females out on dates, etc. Overall, though, as a kid being a "bookworm" is looked down on.
