i'm a 5.i love god. substance requires organization.organization requires an idea.ideas require thought.i think therefor i am. thought is something(because it's not nothing, nothing doesn't exist)and therefore has substance.so if existence requires thought and thought, existence then that is god.it's impossible for god and existence not to be. god is the only reality. all that you see or seem is but a dream within a dream. : : Holloa,
: : I have been reading James' "Varieties of religious experience" and that has led to some speculation about how : : different ennetypes experience issues surrounding religion. My particular focus is the enneatype 5, partly : : becuase it is my own type but also because the 5 is distinguished for their detached stance. An outcome of that : : stance is that they bring a certain objectivity to their views on things. That objectivity explains why so many of : : them are proficient in sciences, philosophy, etc. But objectivity and faith are at odds with one another. As a : : result I think 5s generally move to atheism and I know many fives who have adopted that position. I am : : aquainted with the atheistic view and so am not that interested in posts defending it. I am interested in reading : : posts from those, 5 or otherwise, who have adopted a position of faith and feel they can defend it logically. : : Tchenier 5w4 : Well, I used to be a hard core atheist. However, I have taken the position of agnosticism, because I regard total faith in a god, and total disbelief in a supreme being as equally presumptuous. I still lean toward atheism, however I cannot say beyond a reasonable doubt that there isn't a higher power of some sort possibly beyond our current ability to understand. : Joe
