Clothing is an obvious example, which is so absolute it's sort of invisible. : Eddie Izzard, the transvestite comedian pointed it out that women have 100% clothing rights. There is literally no mainstream item of men's clothing that a woman can't wear. I'm glad I've never wanted to dress in "women's clothing" but it's rough on guys who do. >>>While generally true, I do feel compelled to point out that women who dress in 'men's' clothing are often interpretted as being dykes... particularly if the clothing hides her figure. Remember too that this freedom carries with it the connotation that for a woman to dress or act like a man is to make a move better... for a man to dress or act feminine cheapens him. More freedom for women? Not big picture. : Basically, a woman can embody every point on the Enneagram and expect total acceptance. Exceptions would be violence of the type unhealthy 8s and cphobic sixes can perpetrate. : But if a man cries in response to anything less than a death, it's punished socially. The crybaby automatically loses three or four places in the pecking order. (No, tears at sports results are NOT valid exceptions). : Women can, of course, sob freely without any repercussion. >>>Ah, but this one can be reversed. A dry-eyed woman, like myself, who never cries... faces some social frustration because of the expectation that women are supposed to be emotional. Again, allowances made can reflect social VALUATION of genders that take the punch out of any increased superficial freedoms. : Essentially, gender behaviour standards and their enforcement only really exist for males. At least for my age cohort (20-40) where I live. You KNOW it's not that extreme. But I do think being 'feminine' should not be scene as compromising for males... not only because of the freedoms of expression it will afford to stifled men... but because it will reflect an attitude that male and female are at last equal.
