I have had very few what I would consider close friendships with women. Unfortunately, I never really think I have much in common with most women, and men can be rather alarming because it seems so often they wish to "cross the line," which usually ruins everything.

I've wondered once or twice what it would be like to have the kind of relationship that Diarmuid was referring to, but I know what Laurence does: these are the same women who will backstab each other quite viciously with very little provocation. I have no interest in that.

The friendships I do have with (for the lack of better phraseology) compatible women, are among the things I most treasure.
