: Does it make sense, logically, to put time and energy into a life decision without the belief of a positive outcome?

:
: Example:

: What is the positive outcome of deciding to smoke and develop a nicotine addiction?

: The statistics prove that it has a negative outcome on overall health. Because it makes one feel good or look good to one's friends is irrational.

: Using logic, would this not make smoking an asinine thing?

: It is my understanding that fives use logic to make decisions. So, if there are fives out there who smoke, how do you defend your decision to do so logically?

Depends on how you look at it. The more smokers themore business for us Pharmacists considering the various cancers brought on by smoking. It helps the hospital and funeral industry which in turn helps the timber industry (I hope there are no tree guggers here). While it may not be subjectively logical to smoke it is objectively logical as it helps the economy.
