That's good. I suppose you can respect each other's differences, and occasionally play off those two or three topics you *can* talk about once in a while, right? Even if those topics amount to little more than current events and the weather. You may not be temperamentally suited to one another, but if neither of you has abused or demoralized the other, then I don't see any reason for outright alienation.

Do you find him morally reprehensible in some way? Or do your interests merely fail to overlap? If the latter is true, then perhaps, in time, you may learn from one another. I'm not talking about a total compromose of character between you two; even a slight mutual enrichment would be significant. Then again, maybe it won't happen. Keep an open mind - maybe new familial situations, once in a great while, will expose similarities you were unaware of before. Do you see the possibility for any of this?
