Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive Are 5's more likely to be communists?Posted by Dave on August 30, 2000 at 15:59:45: Being that the traditional definition of economics is," the allocation and distribution of scarce resourses", and one of communism's tenets being, "from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs", does that make the majority of 5's attracted to communist and socialist ideologies? Rationale: 5's have a scarcity mentality and find the world overwhelming. Capitalism, especially the laissez-faire purist variety, is characterized by it's volatility and uncertainty. To lessen these outside demands,a secure, predictable, less demanding system like communism seems attractive for satisfying basic needs and allowing 5's to pursue their more mental and quieter pursuits. Furthermore, since 5's often have lesser needs for the material things of life, it would be only logical that they think that everyone shouldn't need the material excess that a capitalist society produces.
