Like Santa Claus, the catholic God we both grew up with is watching you all the time. Privacy is extremely important to me. For me, turning atheist was a massive flood of freedom. I can tell you, the joy, the fervour that really religious people experience: I got that from deciding it was all unreal. To me, the thought of just stopping existing at death is very preferable to the judgement and reward/punishment process that follows death in the Sky-godder's world. Kind of like you spend your life waiting to go on trial for murder, and you're suddenly told the D.A is dropping all charges. You don't have to defend your belief from me. I respect it and I hope you continue doing what's natural for you. As for needing to feel worthwhile, loved, saved, protected, comforted, protected, loved; that just means you're human. We all need that, and believe me those things are as easy to get without religious belief as with. Have you ever really listened to "Imagine" by John Lennon? That's what it's all about for me. Love, Diarmuid
