a 5's answer: those suggestions are far too general. If I am to answer properly, I'll have to make it a lot more specific and re-introduce the notion of specific circumstances, which then makes a hell of a difference. And, of course, I'll have a specific answer for each set of specific circumstances.

I answered the second way, but actually my approach has been to let people help themselves........... although on occassion...... I wonder how the fives answered.
