Took me about 30 seconds to read it. Yep, you are right. That's why the scientific method is ridiculous. Statistics, though, don't determine likeliness. The dice roll so far has one statistic, 5. By statistics, 5 WOULD be more likely. And probability, which does determine likelihood, is determined by natural laws that have to be assumed true, so that's no good either. I personally say that in dealing with the real world as a bunch of objects with physical characteristics rather than as a bunch of perceptions, nothing is logical. The bunch of perceptions is logical, and the bunch of objects, while not contradicting logic, is not dictated by logic either. Science is belief, like religion and common sense. It's done because it feels most right to us personally. However, the same can also be said for logic. There is no reason why if a = b and b = c then a = c. It just feels right. There is no reason why if A is true and if A is true then B is true, then B is true. It just feels right. I have a post that further explains how logical conclusions are not necessarily true. It has to do with making mistakes. See if you can find it. "Logic is illogical <-- And yes, that's a deliberately provacative title" or something similar to that is the title. : Saying something is LIKELY is a blind assumption based on what feels most right to you personally. We cannot judge complete automated realism more likely than half-automated, half-conscious realism because we have only experienced ONE universe! This makes as much sense as rolling one die and having the number come up 5 and saying "There is a more likely chance that 5 will come up more than any other number". You can only say something is LIKELY based on STATISTICS. What, do 9 out of 10 universes prefer cold automated realism or something? ;) : Well, aside from the sarcasm, I hope you see my point. I myself am a skeptic and hold that everything is essentially equal and everything is part of an essential "isness" or Being. For me, everything goes. Nothing is more likely than the next. : The world is unable to be understood and we go into the future not knowing why we do what we do, we just know we are being carried along by a river... : I'm an existentialist by the way. =o) : -Cory
