****From what I know left brain specializes in:

speech
reading
writing
verbal memory
abstract categorizing
musical ability
fine manual sequences
seeing more than one thing at a time
left-right discrimination
detail in drawings

and right brain in:

understanding of metaphor
facial recognition
attending to left body and visual space
spatial perception
ability to find way (get out of a maze)
visual closure
musical sense
form memory
proper form in drawings

Lateralization is having the two brains work as specialists. Einstein's brain was highly lateralized. An office clerk's brain would be much less lateralized. Also in general, women's brains are less lateralized than men's which leads to more towering geniuses in men. This means that women can be very good managers (generalists) and men specialists.

Where does lateralization lie in the Enneagram? I think it has more to do with Myers Briggs' functions. A person with well developed functions, probably all first four, would be a lateralized person.

As to left/right brain dominance I would say again Myers Briggs explains more. Intuitives are right brain dominated and sensates left brain.

: I was wondering if anyone knew about any research done on the correlation between enneagram type and left/right brain dominance.

: I checked out a book at the library on the subject, and they offered a little quiz to tell you what hemisphere you tend to prefer. I've taken a couple other similar tests like this and have always come out dual-dominant and/or highly lateralized.

: Has anyone taken a quiz like this? If so, does anyone have any theories about it with respect to e-type? Just out of curiosity, if you care to share, what were your results?
