Hi Heidi,
not long ago I read avery interesting book on the subject writen by a well know french researcher, Pr Israel. He touches on cultural differences, comes up to the conclusion of a huge inbalance in our currant western culture leading to lots of thus induced pathologies. Sure we could draw a parallel with etypes, but keeping in mind that etypes are differenciated not on single criteria but rather on a systemic basis (interaction of several key factors leading to specific sets of beliefs and values). Of my head, it is quite clear to think of 1s, 3s and 8s are left brain and 4s, 9s as more right brain.

: I can see how Jungian preferences present clearer indications of hemispheric dominance, but I think relating this to the enneagram is possible by way of the MBTI. People correlate Myers-Briggs types with enneagram types all the time. I also don't think it too far fetched to be able to relate this to some of the innate qualities of the e-types more directly (eg. two qualities of fours: their emotional natures/responses and their visual/metaphorical artistic inclinations are likely to be controlled by the right brain).

: I most often hear Einstein referred to as a 5w4. I've also heard 9w1, but less frequently. You mentioned that Einstein's brain was highly lateralized. For argument's sake, I'll agree the majority of what I've read and say he was a 5w4.
:
: I come out highly lateralized on these indicators and I'm a 5w4, too. Two examples aren't quite enough to make any kind of theory about 5w4s (or any other type, for that matter), which is why I was wondering if anyone else wanted to help me gather some more data by sharing their results or ideas.

: Yeah, so I come up with a theory about it, so what? I guess I don't know that I have a purpose for it, I'm just trying to get involved on this board by talking about something that currently interests me.
