: I was pretty much accepting the entirety of your post, up until the last part. Sure, I think sharon stone is a pretty mediocre actress, etc etc. But.. why would it be anything strange for her to have an IQ of 150?

There are reasons why her reported I.Q. is strange. They deal with the relativity of I.Q. itself.

Albert Einstein was estimated to have an I.Q. near 160. This, of course, is only from the sources that I have read; there may be other records or approximations. This means that Sharon Stone is probably within ten I.Q. points of Einstein, as her I.Q. has actually been reported at 154. Does this seem right? Sharon Stone may be a very intelligent person, but, ignoring the pun, "she's no Einstein."

This score could be indicative of two things. 1. Sharon Stone has a degree in creative writing, a subject which would require a large, general vocabulary. This greatly contrasts Einstein, who not only had problems developing speech, but studied the highly specific terminology of mathematics and physics. Since many I.Q. tests put such great emphasis on language, Sharon Stone holds an advantage in this respect, even if she has only a moderate degree of proficiency in specific areas of thought, reasoning, and pattern perception; areas in which Einstein would probably have done so well, that I.Q. tests would not serve him justice.

2. The Mensa I.Q. test uses an inflated scale in comparison to that which is standard. If Sharon Stone is knowingly or unknowingly reporting a Mensa score (which is possible), she is exaggerating her actual I.Q. by nearly twenty points. If this is the case, her continual mention of her intelligence not only lacks humility, but it is unfounded as well, as supposedly, an I.Q. over 150 denotes genius.

And why does that say anything at all in dfense of your statement? It doesnt. All it does is highlight how prejudiced you are and how narrow a concept you have about what intelligent people must be like.
: This isnt a defense of sharon stone. Its a call on your judgement.

My final statement was not actually intended to be taken seriously. It was not a statement of fact, but an opinion. However, it illustrates her character, in the fact that she seemingly boasts about her I.Q. If she were truly intelligent, shouldn't it be seen in her achievements (grand or small)? It is as if she mentions it to prove that she is intelligent, possibly because of a lack of evidence, or because she lacks self-esteem. Many use I.Q. in this way to feel superior to others, and since it is quantifiable, everyone knows where they should stand; it can be used as an intellectual caste system.

I really didn't mean to incite bitterness by my comment. I was trying to be humorous.
