if someone was manic-depressive, and a danger to themselves, let's say, if they didn't take their lithium, or worse, dangerously psychotic and a homocidal maniac if they don't tke their drugs, then you'd be relieved when they took their meds, right? why should it be any different with less severe psychological maladies like crankiness? or even boredom? if the drug makes things better, then it's a good thing.
