Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive Re: 5's and conflictPosted by KaLoLu on November 06, 2001 at 10:21:48: In Reply to: 5's and conflict posted by JP on November 04, 2001 at 21:09:46: : It's interesting to me...the conflict I had today on the board is pretty much the biggest conflict I've had in years. Certainly the most direct. And, like most conflicts I've been involved in, it wasn't something I intended. : I wonder how other 5's deal with/feel about conflict? I try to avoid it whenever possible, finding it to typically be unfulfilling and non-useful. However, I have certainly seen that it sometimes can lead to resolution. : As I have read and responded throughout the day I have had a fair amount of anxiety at times...ought I say "that" or should I try to present it "this" way, etc. The biggest physiological responses I noted to my anxiety were increased perspiration and I suppose respiration rate. Sort of like stage fright. : Mostly I find trying to be "right" with regard to others' beliefs or opinions is a waste of time. Do other 5's share this view? However, perhaps part of moving toward "integration" is becoming more willing and able to engage others as we move toward 8. : For those of you who have engaged/confronted on this board for some time, what utility have you gained from it? I suppose you might've clarified your positions on particular topics, or, as I have done, confronted your unwillingness to confront somewhat, or elicited some insight from another type.
