I have a 5 friend who although can come across as non engaging, also can be quite emotional She told me she avoided certain careers because she could not stand the sadness. I think 5's can feel very deeply but their ability to avoid pain by jumping into their heads means that they may present as detached from empathising with your pain. What I have found valuable is the objective unemotional insight she brings into my problems.
I also know other 5's who are very involved in social justice (possibly their 6 wing)and who do seem to care greatly.
