From my own experience with intellectual development and intelligence assessment, I have formed the opinion that many of us may be putting our natural abilities to shame by allowing certain parts of our mind to fall into a numb stupor, and also by abusing our bodies (the life support system for the mind). My story, as follows, has been echoed by other people.

1990 (age 13): Was depressed, anxious, on psychoactive medication, in poor health, constantly fatigued and on verge of illness. Watched too much TV. Cared little for math (fell behind in school). Took IQ test. Scored about 130.

1991 (age 14): Stopped watching TV. Adapted macrobiotic diet lifestyle and exercise program; lost 70 pounds; corrected shallow breathing habits; dabbled in meditation; quit psychoactive drugs. Adapted techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Took another (different) IQ test. Scored about 140.

1992 (age 15): Developed interest in classical and contemporary instrumental music, new-age esoterica. Developed interest in literature. Became more organized and in general, learned to pay better attention to details. Took another series of IQ tests. Consistently scored about 150.

2001 (age 24): Over past 10 years, my interest in classical music, art films, literature, and psychology has grown. I still (practically) never watch TV. Moreover, I have discovered a latent interest in math, and nurtured that interest. Recently, I took another series of IQ tests that I had never taken before, and consistently scored about 160.

In sum, I don't think I've magically increased my "raw g-force." I have simply done something that seems unfortunately rare; I have tried to awaken the sleeping parts of my mind, and to become more alive. The increase in IQ scores is simply a counterpart to an awakened mind.
