Well, Ayn Rand would have blamed the leech's behavior on the creeping Socialism which is polluting the proud, brave, independent "people of the mind".
In the 40's and 50's, people believed in the anti-Rand notion of "society", and government and business policy was designed with some lipservice to that concept. Since Reagan got reelected that whole concept has been jettisoned as an idea in the USA. Rand's shit won't fly in 2002 America as an explanation, though nobody with any power dares disagree with her.
Fact: Rand was a childish five who was enraged that the rest of the planet didn't think like fives. Rand wanted organizations to be filled with lone wolves, not team players. Rand was deluded enough to believe that a simple embrace of the profit motive in all matters would suffice to turn entire workforces into leech-free zones.
Rand's ideas have taken America by storm for the last 20 years. And the current situation is as close to her Utopia as Stalin's Russia was to Marx's.

Stopped constantly to explain things that have been explained several times already. Taken initiative to get things finished when the instructions leave us hanging. She's busy worrying about how big her cubicle will be and if coffee will be available at the afternoon meeting... she has this strange sense of entitlement before she's done any work. The last thing I want is to be tied to this woman when training is finished next week... yet I have the sneaking suspicion she is already lobbying for it and the one thing she does have is the ability to work things through word manipulation. Really makes me want to embrace Ayn Rand.
