: I didn't mean criticism is invalid. But there is a difference between blowing off an idea because it conflicts with personal beliefs and refuting an idea with intelligent criticism (which still does not necessarily invalidate an idea). But to refute an idea you must understand it and the reasoning behind it and the limitations of the people who created it. We are all limited... even those with high IQ may lack empathy or intuition which are also valid means for truth-seeking.
Ideas are NEVER invalidated. Everything is equally true, including the fact that nothing is equally true. However, I and approximately every other person in the world forget this almost all of the time, and work by an unfounded internal sense of what is right and why it is right, which we english speakers call "logic".
