Two steps to the y-axis: Two steps to the x-axis: You can't be good at one and not at the other, because each is a skill necessary to the other. You need to see the pattern AND NOT THE WRONG PATTERN to be good at seeing patterns, and you need to see the difference AND NOT THE WRONG DIFFERENCE to be good at seeing differences. They are both guess-and-check processes, with each checking the other. Hence, your thing about problem-solving and problem-creating can't be right. In logical thinking, the process is different. First a problem is seen by either of the two skills. Either there is a pattern, and the problem is to find out why there is a pattern, or there is a difference where the reason for it is unclear, and the problem is to figure out why there is a difference. There is a third option, that the problem stands alone. Once the problem is found, it can be solved by breaking it down into smaller problems by way of the seeing of differences and patterns. Eventually, it is recognizable, and can be solved easily. I haven't really thought through that last part about logical thinking.
: I've been trying to make sense of this - perhaps people have ideas? : So, please, if you care to: : Draw a positive x & y axis. : On the y-axis label: Ability to find similarities among objects which seem to be different : label "low" on the bottom section of the y-axis and "high" on the top section of the y-axis : On the x-axis label: Ability to find differences among objects which seem to be similar : label low on the left hand section of the x-axis and high on the right hand section of the x-axis : In the region of low-low label "imitators/doers" : In the region of high-high label "innovators" : In the region of low y-axis and high x-axis label: problem formulators :
