This book where you found this... what is the writer's objective? >>>>>Also, the chart extends along only the positive x & y axis - ie. all categories are in the same quadrant - not one in each quadrant. (a large square subdivided into 4 small equally sized squares with point (0,0) at the bottom left corner of the big square)<<<<<< Illustrates the same thing the numbers are irrelevant ofcourse... it is the visual representation (sort of like the enneagram) that holds significance. >>>>>>: I think that the problem formulator has the ability to think more laterally and to see environment and context - to see woods from trees. At least that is my guess.<<<<<< Woods and trees... good illustration... but here I think what it really illustrated is the way a person reasons. A problem formulator starts with the woods to understand the trees. (Taking something big and breaking it down) A problem solver starts with trees to understand the woods. (Taking the parts and adding them up to equal a whole.)
: Here is some more info - in the PROBLEM SOLVER "box" is: : problem solver : a scientific orientation : defines alternatives - recommends solutions : in the PROBLEM FORMULATOR "box" is: : problem formulator : an artistic orientation : formulate the mess (mess is technical jargon for set of conditions which can be improved but first the problems must be identified) : INNOVATOR "box": : innovator/pathfinder : a systematic orientation: purposeful behavior, sits the direction, identifies issues, context : DOER "box": : doers : a practical orientation: implements solutions<<<<< All of this fits my thinking except the ACTION related titles and descriptions (a picky semantics issue on my part more than anything-- I like things to be as CORRECT as possible. I think the author has selected these terms because he is trying to convince the reader of something. What is the writer's objective?)
