As a 5 who is also in college right now I sympathize with where your coming from. And like you(I think) when people see me for the first time they think "well there's a cool guy, a bit dressed down prehaps, but certainly not strange looking". And there is always a strange and shocking look of bewilderment on these people's faces when I begin to rant about post-structural marxism, and hoplite warfare. Shattering this first impression that people have of me is always important I feel. I want people to know where I stand and what my interests are, and I dont care about what they think about them (a reaction I worked hard at developing given my sensitivity). Once people understand who I am and realize that Im not a "Small-talker", but that I am a nice person, and that I always have an open ear (though I normally feign interest)they feel comfortable just talking about themselves. And People love talking about themselves. To keep that lingering thought out of my head however, that is: "Well shit, what do I say now?" I went out of my way and searched hard for other intellectual friends, who normally just rant back and forth at each other encouraging each others cerebralism. And there are plenty of non-5 ranting-intellectuals that despise small talk just as much as I do out there, especially at the liberal college that I go to.

I have also not met many 5's who are girls, and I think it might have something to do with the emphasis this culture (and most other cultures)put on a woman's exterior appearance. Women have so many more options than men when it comes to exterial decoration: make-up, nail polish, jewelry, clothing, foot ware, etc. This emphasis on females to express themselves externally may deter them from retreating into their heads, where good thinking can be obtained. (-a stupid hypothesis I thought I would throw in there.)

Incidently, one of the most interesting times I had was with another female five. We spent alot of time together talking a marginal amount of small talk and mostly just expressing our thoughts. And because both of us knew that we were fives, we would have super-long periods of silence, that werent at all awkward. Both of us were simply content to sit next to each other and not say a word.
