Eh Heidi, Beethoven's "moonlight Sonata" 1rst movement has always deeply touched me. I used to love listening to choral music, Mozart's requiem, Verdi's requiem, Vivaldi's, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Bach's St John's Passion. I still love them, yet now seek more peaceful musics, such as persian oud, pakistanese Quawali suffi songs, indian classic ragas, and some ethnic jazz (Rabhi Abou Kabib, Yan Garbarek) I also love Keth Jarret, Charly Haden, Di Meola, Ron Carter, etc...
I also love ethnic musics from different parts of the world.
Yet my favorite composers are Bach and Schubert.

: Of the ones you mentioned...I rather like Prodigy, the Pixies, Nine Inch Nails, and U2. I'm not really a musician, but I do play the piano, and Chopin is my very favorite, strangely enough. I also like some Rob/White Zombie, some Live, some Collective Soul, Tracy Chapman and Bjork (for drawing), and choral music like Mozart's Requiem. If I had to choose a favorite song of all time it would probably be Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" (1st movement).

: Like yourself, the lyrical content of music rarely affects my opinion. I think it's more about whether all the sounds "work" together or not. That's one reason, no offense, that I detest Pantera.

: : i thought this might be an interesting topic, since i haven't seen it asked before on the short time i've been on this board.

: : i find myself listening to Tool, Prodigy, Pantera (some), The Pixies, Incubus, and Nine Inch Nails (some) while I work. for relaxation i sometimes listen to DJ Shadow, Philip Glass, Garbage, Chopin (some of my favorite all time music is by Chopin) and occasionally U2 oddly enough.

: : i don't really listen to any bands for their "message," as perhaps some do with Tool or Rage Against The Machine, but instead simply for the sound of it. i find electronic sounds to be helpful when i am thinking deeply about a problem.

: : now, share your musical tastes.
