Enneagram Type 5 Board Archive advise neededPosted by Heidi on November 21, 2000 at 12:11:35: This is a rather long story, and I'll try to make it as brief as possible, but please be patient if I fail. I'm not trying to extort any pity, I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything that could help. A few years ago, I lived with and trusted a man I shoudn't have. As a direct result, my state of financial affairs is quite ugly and it seems rather impossible to move forward. Although I've done my best to turn it around, the extent of the damage was far-reaching and I'm still amid the cleanup. I've wanted to return to college for several years, but I haven't been able to do so because of the abovementioned problems. I had a student loan in default. To make a long story shorter, I applied for a consolidation loan from the Dept. of Education and the dispersals were sent on the 13th of July, which was supposed to take care of all the default business and ensure my reeligibility for student aid. Unfortunately, it's not so easy as all that. I've sent the college to which I am applying 3 different documentations that confirm the paid-in-full status of the loan, but those aren't sufficient. The problem now is that the original loan holder hasn't gotten around to updating the files, so when I send the infamous FAFSA, it still shows that I'm ineligible for aid due to a defaulted loan. Four months later, I'm still waiting. It's been about five years all in all. Does anyone know how I could speed up the informational update process? If not, does anyone have any good ideas how I could make a little money at home until it happens and not have to interact directly with the public? I ask because being in the middle of it for so long has really put the reins on my objectivity.
