My views are *not* the norm, but personally I look at that whole credit and loan business as screwed from beginning to end ( both buy side or sell side).
I have no credit cards, no debt, etc.
I have only cash surplus (not much - but at least it's liquid as hell).
The only time I ever took out a loan in my life was 1 or 2 years ago at a pawn shop. Believe me, I will never do that again.

Your answer is just don't pay for school by loans. Forget it. Loans are too slow. Just pay cash.

*Lots of good things come your way in life when you make it standard practice to always pay cash.*

(Oh, yeah, and always keep your receipts for large amounts - especially if it's an institution.)
