Neither was I likening it to The Holocaust, by which I assume you mean the 20th century Jewish one, but to A holocaust, ie 'a great destruction or loss of life' (Collins English Dictionary Definition). There have been many holocausts, including other Jewish ones and that of the burning of so-called witches in Europe and hanging of so-called witches in England.
