I think the main reason why they don't correlate perfectly is simply because they measure different attributes about us. The enneagram is mostly about motivation, while the MB types are about how we function in the world. However, I do think that motivation affects function...if we want a certain something, we have to get it in a certain way. If you want to retrieve something from the bottom of the ocean, get a submarine. If you want to get something from space, use a space shuttle. I don't think it's rational to say "All Fours have to have the MBTI Feeling function", but you would have to agree that "MOST Fours have the MBTI Feeling function." I see nothing wrong with correlation as long as it describes TENDENCY. I mean, look on this board...how many ESTJ Fours do you see here? There's a busload of INFP Fours though. If there is no tendency, why the huge amount of INFPs? No, it's perfectly rational to say that a certain MBTI type will most likely match with a certain Enneagram type. I think you can agree with me on that!
