Why do we never hear about monks, especially monks from the middle ages? The TV news is cluttered with school shootings and arson investigations, but we never hear about these kind, gentle, quiet people. Where would we be without the importance of monks in our lives?

* During the dark ages, only the monks were still literate. Education would be doomed if it wasn't for them.
* In order to curb their sexual desires, monks often bled themselves regularly.
* King Henry VIII of England's last words were "Monks, monks, monks!"

Before you go out into the world, take a break and think peacefull about monks and what they have done for the world. Hip hip hooray for Monks!
