Enneagram as core

It depends on how you view the enneagram...
If you see it as MOTIVATION, then it is the core self. The Myers-Brigg type is the "surface" type that it uses to get what it desires.

However, many people don't view the enneagram as motivation and simply see the traits as defense mechanisms. I prefer the former idea of using enneagram as motivation and MB as surface traits, since when both are combined, you can get quite an accurate portrait of a person.
