I objected the birth order system because it seems to explain everything by itself. First you find on the page that the birth order tells what people are like, but your "psychological type" can, in fact, be different from your physical birth order. In reality all these systems are complementary and form a whole.

I read on a type page (unfortunately I don't remember the URL anymore) that it's a widely accepted fact that there are 4 major influences to what an individual is like: the personality type, family/parental influence, cultural/social enviroment and gender (which is tied to culture in some ways). The type forms the basis for all the other influences. So, I think if someone says "I'm a third born child", it just doesn't tell that much. However, "I'm a 9w8 ISFP female and an only child. My parents were devoted catholics." tells a lot more.
