Yes, I seem to agree with these guys. I'll have to read what they have to say as I haven't read either of them. I'd be interested to see what they have to say about how to program a "personality" into artificial life. That may be a huge number of particles to still program but since technology is progressing exponentially it will not be as long as people think for this to happen. Sure, I realize I'll be long dead but I have read the experts who say that human-like intelligence is possible by the year of 2036. These may be very simplistic personality constructs and I don't know if I agree with that date to begin with... but I think the signs are there that artificial life is not too far around the corner.
