: : I've heard somewhere that your Enneatype is your defense mechanism against outside pressures and hurts. Your MBTI is your core personality.

: I would think it would have to be the other way around, since one's
: enneagram type never changes, whereas one's Myers-Briggs type changes
: constantly and is, in the end, expected to cease to exist (the ideal state
: being to have all one's functions in perfect balance).

I have to disagree about your enneagram type never changing. When I first took
the enneagram back in October, I was a 5w4. I have changed a great deal since
then, and I am now a 4w5.

I don't really know about the differences in what the enneagram and the MBTI
measure, but they both describe personalities and a person's motiviations,
and these things certainly CAN change. I would even go so far as to say that
they SHOULD change--otherwise, you're not growing as a person. This doesn't
necessarily mean a change in type; you could just move more towards the
"healthy" side of your type, but changing types is also a possibility.
