: : Sorry for jumping to conlusions here. I thought you said you was a five, : : but at second look it seems like you are a four, and then I can understand if : : he should be an eight. However I don't like to think of the ISTJ as a : : typical eight, but that could be very wrong. If you read the MBTI description : : of ISTJ and think what type it resonates with I think you see what I mean. : : Anyway, sorry for jumping on to fast here. : : : : Andy : I don't think I could prove he's an eight without sounding like I'm bragging- (even though his lack of empathy and overconfidence has caused some major hassles). He doesn't know how to be a passive agressive 6. : He's got a huge heart if you dig and dig and dig. : Anyways....... I think he's a good example of what I was saying about defense mechanisms. The eight, is a role he plays very well in order to get what he wants from people and out of life. If you call him on it - he knows he's doing it and will laugh. But he refuses to stop doing it. : Instead of comparing MBTI to Enneagram, maybe we should delve into the correlations of Enneagram to NLP. I would say that what you say about him knowing about this eight role is more a six thing, because male 6w7 often resembles eights. If he was an eight I don't think he would go as far as admitting anything, because he would not see it himself. And when you talk about the passive-agressive sixes, thats nines. Or some phobic sixes. But not the counterphobics. BUT all this is stupid of me to write, because the way I see it is a 5 minute (real world) conversation the only way to decide. I think the easiest way to type someone is when they are in a stressed situation, and they defence mecansim-s begins to show. Talking of military, I belive it's a few ENTJ and a lot ESTJ supervisors there that loves to give orders and hate reciving them, that's the ones I would call eight's. The NLP system is a guide to how you should become a 3 the way I see it.
Myself I haven't found anything to gain in the NLP system, what's the point of becoming more in-autentic. The only intresting part in it the way I see it is the way it can identify if someone uses an Audio-digital, Audio, kinestic or Visual preference.
This should be possible to identify by looking at how someone uses their eyes. I also belive there is poosible to collorate this to jungian functions. Meaning you can actually see if someone is using introverted functions, you should also be able to pinpoint the exact function. To put it to the MBTI I belive the link is something like this... NT -Visual, but some are also a bit audective (right-brain dominace) NF -Visual, but some are also a bit audective (right-brain dominace) It's strange but, many creative musicans and writers are mostly visual. SOme visuals, are very sensitive to sensations, and I guess most hypersensetive people fit in here. When talking hypersensetivety, I mean sensetive to sensory owerload. SJ -Audective (left-brain dominace)(these are the best at scool) Learns and remember in a taperecorder way, one thing after the other. Because our scools are Audective with pure memoration, the visuals and kinestics are the ones that suffers most in scool. SP -Kinestic (left-dominace)(these are the ones that beat's you in bowling) This are all my ungrounded hunces, but I belive them to be quite true. If you want proof's go look for it. After reading all this you should belive that f.ex the visual is best at finding errors in writing like this, but that's wrong. That's the Audective . A clear proof of this is dyslectics that about always are visual and not audective... Of course, the Kinestic is best at sports and the visual best at creative things. Based on this I belive there should be possible to do a link of this to the enneagram. Your man Christy, should be good at remembering names and things you have said wordly right (like a tape recorder). But bad at faces and remembering things visually. Since you are a four I would guess you are the oposite of this. Let's say that you was at a place an talked to some people, I would say you would be best at describing the place you visited, while he would be best at saying the names at those you talked to and maybe remeber a sentence or two from the conversation. You on the other hand would be good at remembering their faces. Any hit rate at all ?
(hopes this sounds better than the two times I have given book rewiews in class whitout reading the book)
Now, I am fed up and don't bother to write more. (Did someone say- thanks ?) Hope not...:)
