I've noticed a tendency lately for people to resort to MBTI/Jungian
analysis to try to explain things that don't seem to make sense within
the enneagram. This indicates a failure somewhere, either in the
enneagram's ability to explain things or in people's ability to see the
enneagram's explanation. In either case, it doesn't make a whole lot of
sense to resort to one independently constructed theory to explain
apparent inconsistencies in another.
My own personal perspective is that the enneagram is MORE systematic and
consistent than MBTI, so I'm inclined to look deeper within the enneagram
for an explanation rather than to walk away from it. YMMV, but I would
suggest that if the MBTI is telling you things you need to know and the
enneagram isn't, you may as well just chuck the enneagram and go all-MBTI.
