In my 9/19 posting I referred to a pattern 142857142857. I then said
going'with' the pattern blah, blah, blah. For clarification, if one subscribes
to integration and disintergration concepts, there is an inclination to go
with the pattern 142857... and taking on average to less than healthy aspects
of the next type. (4 to 2 results in need repression, 2 to 8 results in
vegeance for unappreciation, and so on.) Going against the arrows, i.e.,
reversing the inclination leads to consciously acguiring positive aspects of
the next type. (4 to 1 leads 4 out of melancholy nostalgia to resposible
assertiveness; 1 to 7 leads to optimism; 7 to 5 reveals plans as thoughts,
5 to 8 leads to activation. 8 to 2 empowers others, and so on.) Some sages
say 'hooey,' They believe one can go with or against arrows and acquire
positive or negative aspects of the next type in the pattern. Some others
say terms like positive, negative, integration, disintergration, salvation...
smell of value judgements imposed by people using the Enneagram for their own
agenda. Surely, I have muddied the waters for anyone reading this posting.
I just wanted to elaborate on the Hexad arrow stuff a little. And, oh yeah,
Triad arrows are different unless one says "hooey,' to hexad arrow stuff;
then all is consistent about arrows. Go either way.
