Thanks. Considering Maslow and his hierarchy of needs and their correlates to the instinctual subtypes, they seem to agre, except Maslow puts it on a developmental scale .

Maslow's needs: Surviaval & Security =Self-preservation; Belonging/ love= Sexual; Ego/recognition =Social; and self-actualization= Syntony or Essence.

The moving function seems to be similar to Freud's need for work.
