Enneagram Main Board Archive Are you guys for real?Posted by Sceptic on January 29, 2001 at 20:06:09: I found this site while searching for something else. I've taken some time to read a few threads and and also done a search of other sites to find out a bit about the background to enneagrams. My question to you is... Are you guys for real? I mean, is there even any scientific basis for this stuff? I don't mean to be too divisive but this has to be one of the softest, most-marshmellowy attempts at psychological theory I have ever seen. I think it comes close to beating that old 'sanguine, melancholic, phlegmatic, etc...' theory for sheer comic entertainment value. And you all seem to know so much about it and take it so seriously... what type, what characteristics, their meanings, their consequences for this and that. This does make me a little sad for you, though... that you've created in your minds a psychological framework so imperfect. There are more modern and scientific theories you know. Even Myers-Briggs seems more plausible to me, though that theory has gross flaws and is pretty much out the window nowadays. My suggestion to you? Don't believe everything you hear/read... or you'll fill your head with crap. And once it's in there it's hard to get out.
