I do not have it at hand so cannot provide the researcher's name; but... Persons with siezure disorders report a sense of wholeness or oneness, visions, etc. Brain scans show decreased activity in an upper right region of the brain. When meditators are also scanned when they experience a loss of self awareness, they too show decreased activity in the same area. The area is referred to as the "orientation spot" because it seems to provide orientation of self vis-a-vis other. When active, we experience separation (boundaries) and when inactive we experience one-ness/connected-ness. The suggestion is that the brain is hard-wired to experience numinosity; spirituality may lie eithin, literally and figur- atively. No MBTI discussion was offerred. I was just curious if you were familiar with the topic from a Neuro perspective. The discription above is my own, so it it not the most accurate review. It is fairly close though. I do not think it is available at Newsweek Online except by archive subscription. The article was about Spirituality (The Search for Spirituality???) I regret not having the article at hand. Short but interesting.
